Carriveau, Richard Sr. Obituary PhotoRichard David Carriveau Sr., 87, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at The Arbors of Michigan City, IN.

He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Gary, IN, to Richard David and Dora (Charbonneau) Carriveau.

Richard served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was a farmer for over 50 years.  He formerly served as an elder at Countryside Christian Church, where he was part of the Building Task Force. He was a fan of stock car racing and the Chicago Bulls.

On Aug. 20, 1948, in Gary he married Margueritte Burris, who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved children, Marcie Shaul of Indianapolis, Gail (Joe) Prather of Jeffersonville, IN, Debbie Carriveau of LaPorte and Pam Morrow of New Castle, IN; daughter-in-law, Dawn Carriveau; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard “Rick” Carriveau Jr.; one brother, Maurice Carriveau; two sisters, Phyllis Eaton and Lorraine Carriveau; and son-in-law, Fred Morrow.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Rick Jones officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the service. Burial will follow the service at Pinhook Cemetery, LaPorte.
