Mr. Peter A. Reading, 73, of LaPorte, died Thursday, Nov. 27, at Miller’s Health and Rehabilitation, LaPorte.
He was born June 10, 1941, in Chicago to Francis John and Mary (Koy) Reading.
Peter worked as a carpenter for Union Local 1485. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Peter enjoyed tractor racing with his grandchildren, fishing and going to fish fries. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 11, 1988, in LaPorte, he married Patricia (Blakeley) Reading, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Charlene of LaPorte and Stephanie (Terry) Pierce of Wisconsin; two sons, Timothy Reading of North Carolina and Jason (Liz) Schrier of Mattawan, MI; eight grandchildren, Marky, Brandi, Dakota, Kaylie, Blake, A.J., Kevin, and Jessie; two great-grandchildren, Josyln and Fischer; one brother, Timothy (Peggy) Reading of Joliet, IL; and two sisters, Katherine Reading of Skokie, IL, and Loretta Reading of Evanston, IL.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; son, Don Reading; and one sister, Mary Reading.
There will be no visitation. A life celebration will take place at a later date. Cremation will take place. Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
