Mr. Henry William Kaber, 75, of LaPorte, died Saturday July 13, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Oct. 28, 1937, in LaPorte to Edward and Rose Mary (Peterson) Kaber.
Henry worked for Maple City Square Apartments and American Home Foods for 17 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. He served in the National Guard for six years. Henry was a member of Whirling Promenaders Square Dance Club in LaPorte, Star 8′s Square Dance Club in Mishawaka, IN, and Duneland Woodcarvers of Portage, IN. He enjoyed tinkering and mechanical things.
On Oct. 7, 1961, in LaPorte, he married Margaret (Hoffman) Kaber, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Carl) Johnson of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Kyle Johnson of LaPorte, Samantha (JR) Carmickle of Paoli, IN, Cynthia Johnson of Argos, IN, and Mark Johnson of Rochester, IN; and seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Brady, Jonathan, Lucas, Taylor, Alexus, and Josie.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Leroy.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Tuesday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 17, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A life celebration will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
