Mr. Raymond Louis Harder, 93, of LaPorte, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte.
He was born June 30, 1920, in LaPorte County to William and Anna Marie (Felton) Harder.
Raymond had worked for Goodyear and Farm Bureau. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Skwait Post 451 of Michigan City, and the 40 and Over Dance Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Ray enjoyed dancing and drum and bugle corps shows.
On Oct. 29, 1950, in LaPorte, he married Patricia (Gillham) Harder, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Susan Rae Harder-Swank of Indianapolis; three sons, Jeffrey (Carol) Harder of Terre Haute, IN, Timothy Harder of Chicago and Lonnie (Stacy Koebel) Harder of Granger, IN; eight grandchildren, Steven Ray Swank, Michael Swank, Brittany (Brian) Bays, Tyler Harder, Gabby Koebel, Michael Koebel, David Frey, and Daniel Frey; one great-grandchild, Layla Bays; and one sister, Betty L. Schlundt of LaPorte.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Walter Harder, Frederick Harder, John Harder and William Harder.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Tuesday, July 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 17, from 9 to 10 a.m. A life celebration will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Interment will follow at Union Mills Cemetery, with a military service conducted by American Legion Skwait Post 451 of Michigan City Honor Guard.
