Sherry Lynn Siddall, 74, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle, Ind.
She was born May 23, 1946, in La Porte to Ray Carroll and Jessie Amelia (Elijah) Deardurff.
Sherry was a diehard Cubs fan, but also enjoyed Notre Dame football. She enjoyed cooking and loved sewing, which she did as an occupation. She also worked at the St. John’s Lutheran School library for over 30 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and volunteered at St. John’s Thrift Shop.
Sherry will be fondly remembered as the “mom” of the neighborhood, as well as for the wonderful Christmas cookies she created. She never missed her sons’ and grandsons’ baseball games. Sherry was never happier than when she was with and supporting her children.
On Oct. 23, 1999, in La Porte, she married Barry Wayne Siddall, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 27, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Chase Swanson; siblings, Rae Carol Winkler, Ruth Schilla, Beverly Williamson and Richard Deardurff; and parents, Ray and Jessie Deardurff.
Surviving Sherry are her children, Doug Swanson, Ray Swanson, Shelley (Bill) Armour, Steve (Dawn) Matthews and Sue (Ross) Schoff, all of La Porte; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, La Porte, with Rev. Dr. Kendall Schaeffer officiating. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery, La Porte. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, and from 9 a.m. until the service Monday at the church.
Anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
