Constance L. (Ebert) Roule, 81, of La Porte, Ind., passed away at her home on May 17, 2021.
She was born June 14, 1939, in La Porte to Arthur L., Sr., and Mildred L. (Phillips) Roule.
Connie graduated from La Porte High School in 1958 and attended Saint Mary’s College and Indiana State University. She served her community through public office as clerk-treasurer of the City of La Porte for several terms. Connie was also an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and was a lifelong active member of La Porte Tri Kappa.
Connie enjoyed trips and dinners with her close friends, loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, and was an avid La Porte Slicers and Notre Dame fan. While her children were growing up, the family home on Lawrence Street was known by all the neighborhood kids as the place to hang out. Countless La Porte-area youth knew Ebert’s as the place to go for a backyard basketball game, and many future Slicers cut their teeth on the court in Connie’s back yard. Her heart and home were always open to everyone.
On July 30, 1961, she married David J. Ebert, Sr., of La Porte. They divorced in 1982.
Connie is survived by her brothers, Arthur L. (Trudy) Roule, Jr., of La Porte and Robert L. Roule (the late Susan Roule) of Long Beach, Ind.; children, David (Julie) Ebert, Stephen (Janyl) Ebert, Thomas (Cynthia) Ebert, Amy (Steven) Bernth and Elizabeth (Matthew) Hagenow; grandchildren, Jessica Ebert, Drew (Jessica) Ebert, Carissa Ebert, Emily Jorgenson, Allyce Ebert, Carter Bernth, Brady Bernth, Kylee Bernth, Parker Hagenow, and Jade Hagenow; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Paisley and Owen.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, La Porte, with interment at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte. A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, June 14, with details to be announced. Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, La Porte, is handling arrangements.
