Mrs. Dorothy M. Galloy, 98, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born June 5, 1915, in Chicago to Frederick and Elizabeth (Gudgeon) Keyl.
Mrs. Galloy was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Michigan City, IN, and a volunteer at the church’s resale shop. She enjoyed sewing, playing card games, gardening and crocheting. She loved her family and grandchildren.
On Aug. 7, 1937, in Chicago, she married Francis L. Galloy, who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gerald and David Galloy; one brother, Edward Keyl; and one great-granddaughter.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Jane Balog of Chesterton, IN; three sons, Richard (Marie) Galloy of Michigan City, Thomas (Jeannine) Galloy of LaPorte and James (Victoria) Galloy of Schererville, IN; one daughter-in-law, Katherine Galloy of South Bend, IN; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 26 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 411 W. 11th St., Michigan City, IN; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
