Catherine Marie (Fraze) Flynn, 78, of LaPorte, and formerly of Muncie, IN, died at 11:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Muncie to Ronald and Vera Ellen (North) Fraze.
Catherine worked at Mercy Hospital in Gary, IN, before being transferred to St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, IN, where she spent 20 years. She loved to crochet, work in her garden and help others.
In 1953, she married Luke Palmer Flynn.
Surviving are one daughter, Connie S. (James) Troup of LaCrosse, IN; two sons, David Michael Flynn of LaPorte and Luke Palmer (Mary) Flynn Jr. of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Rosemary Thyen of Hobart and Janet (Dan) Rogers of Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one granddaughter; two brothers, Orville and Elvin Fraze; two brothers-in-law; one niece; and her former husband, Luke Palmer Flynn.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Rev. Robert Raschka officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. until the service.
