Theodore “Ted” Malecki, 1951-2016

Theodore “Ted” J. Malecki, 65, of Michigan City, IN, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at 7:15 a.m. in Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City.

He was born April 16, 1951, in Harvey, IL, to Anthony and Genevieve (Foldenauer) Malecki.

Ted retired after 35 years with the LaPorte County Highway Department and he was also a farmer. He was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Men’s Society and Farm Bureau.

Surviving are six sisters, Joan (Peter) Edwards of Fargo, ND, Sandra (Don) Butler of Michigan City, Sharon Hagenow of Westville, IN, Sylvia Siegmund of Michigan City, Audrey (Paul) Hagenow of LaPorte, and Michele Pabis of Michigan City; three brothers, Ralph (Mary) Malecki of Wanatah, IN, Paul (Joyce) Malecki of LaCrosse, IN, and Mark Malecki of Union Mills, IN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Antoinette “Toni” Edinger; one niece and three nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, Michigan City, with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Visitation will be at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass. A wake service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow the Mass in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City.
