Debra Moser, 1951-2013

Debra L. Moser, 62, of Hamlet, IN, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

She was born July 25, 1951, in Palestine, IL, to Miles and Mary (Fancil) Edgington.

On Dec. 4, 1971, she married Charles Moser, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Scott Moser of Hudson Lake, IN, and Damon (Tamara) Moser of Hanna, IN; one brother, Steve (Hazel) Edgington of LaPorte; one sister, Carolyn Shields of Portage, IN; and four grandchildren, Danielle Moser of Kingsford Heights, IN, and Logan, Miranda and Mylee Moser, all of Hanna.

Her parents and one sister preceded her in death.

A private family service will be held. Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Roger Geren, 1946-2013

Mr. Roger Ray Geren, 67, of Kingsbury, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born June 17, 1946, in Bradley County, TN, to Ray and Florence (Jeffers) Geren and had lived in the LaPorte area for 48 years, coming from Cleveland, TN.

Roger worked for National Steel/Midwest Division as an overhead crane operator. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 222 in Kingsbury and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

On Oct. 29, 1966, in LaPorte, he married Sharolyn J. Herbst, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Danial Geren and David Geren, both of LaPorte; one grandson, Justin Geren; one great-grandson, Leland Ray Geren; four sisters; four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no service or visitation. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Joyce Jared 001Joyce E Jared, 72, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 12 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, in her home with her family by her side.

She was born April 24, 1941, in Sullivan, IN, to Russell and Ellen (Strange) Gosnell.

Joyce was a caring homemaker for her family. She loved traveling often, particularly to Virginia Beach, VA.

On Dec. 24, 1959, in Sullivan, IN, she married Ronald E. Jared, who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; brother, George; and sister, Janet Stevens.

Surviving are her five children, Kevin (Joyce) Jared of Virginia Beach, VA, Tammy (Kevin) Bargholz, Kim Novak and Crystal Kissling, all of LaPorte, and Tracy (Tommy) Todd of Mechanicsburg, OH; two sisters, Joan Helser and Judy De Rush, both of Warsaw, IN; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

There will be no service. Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Rosejean “Rose” Olson, 1927-2013

Mrs. Rosejean “Rose” Olson, 86, of Lakeville, IN, and formerly of LaPorte, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at her residence after a brief illness.

She was born in St. Louis, MO, on Aug. 30, 1927, to Jack and Helen (Charbulak) McKenna.

Rose was a loving wife and mother and a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in LaPorte. She enjoyed golfing and dancing.

On Jan. 15, 1944, in St. Louis, she married Norman Ettmueller, who preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1968. On Feb. 24, 1998, in Sebring, FL, she married Robert E. Olson, who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Cheryl (Russ) Hutchison of Brazil, IN, Kristi (John) Pritz of Lakeville, IN, Jane (Ivan) Wood of Palisade, CO, and Terry (Ron) Vincent of Camdenton, MO; one son, Dennis (Sandy) Ettmueller of Sun City, AZ; six grandchildren, Heather Cahill, Hope Massey, Heidi Schoemaker, Chad Ettmueller, Erin Slater, and Brett Slater; nine step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Fry and Doris Dafferner; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her first husband, Rose was preceded in death by her parents and one stepson, Rob Olson.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Visitation will be at the church Sunday from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Shirley BachertShirley “ Di Ann” Bachert, 66, of Hamlet, IN, died Sept. 16, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

She was born May 16, 1947, in Hartford City, IN, to Herman and Clara (Coulter) Bisel.

Shirley retired from the LaPorte Hospital Environmental Service Department and had formerly worked at Whirlpool. She was a fun and very loving person who loved spending time with her family, traveling and taking rides with her companion, Tony. She enjoyed playing euchre and listening to music. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by three daughters, Rae Ann Bost of Angola, IN, Lisa (Greg) Banic of LaPorte and Stacy (Michael) Gordenier of LaPorte; one son, Donnie (Kelly) Mays of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Hunter and Lucas Banic, Rachel Mays and Trent Gordenier; three stepchildren, Jennifer Ronan of Fort Myers, FL, Angela Bachert of Atlanta, GA, and John Bachert of Valparaiso, IN; five step-grandchildren; three sisters, Susan Anderson of Ocean Spring, MS, Linda Browning of Westville, IN, and Mary Keenan of LaPorte; several nieces and nephews; and her companion, Tony Macharaschwili.

She was preceded in death by both sets of parents, Herman and Clara (Coulter) Bisel and Lawrence and Virginia (Goff) Coulter; stepfather, William Baldwin; grandson, Trevor Matthew Mays; step-grandson, Mark Ronan; and two stepdaughters, Christine Bachert and Kathleen Wilbur.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at LaPorte VFW Post 1130. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Sue (Nelson) Seitz, 55, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, in her home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1958, in LaPorte to Cecil and Vera (Hundt) Nelson.

Dorothy was a homemaker who cared for her family.

On Sept. 24, 1978, in LaPorte, she married Jim Seitz, who survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Vera Nelson of LaPorte; three children, Jimmy Seitz of South Bend, IN, Tracy Seitz of Elkhart, IN, and Christina Seitz of Logansport, IN; two brothers, David (Patricia) Nelson and Don (Penny) Nelson, both of LaPorte; two sisters, Diana (Roger) Speakman and Darlene Contreras, both of LaPorte; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Justin Chadwick officiating. Visitation will Monday from 2 p.m. until the service.

Thomas Muller, 1964-2013

Mr. Thomas C. Muller, 49, of LaPorte, died at 7:28 p.m. Sept. 18, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born May 3, 1964, in LaPorte to Frank J. and Frances M. (Grott) Muller and had lived in this area his entire life.

Tom was head custodian for LaPorte Community School Corporation at Hailmann Elementary School for 18 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a volunteer for Center Township Volunteer Fire Department for five years, and an assistant Boy Scout Troop leader for Troop 396 for seven years. He enjoyed farming and loved his family.

On Oct. 3, 1987, in LaPorte he married Julie A. Biege, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Breanna (Joel) Young of Indianapolis; one son, Zachary Thomas Muller of LaPorte; his mother, Frances M. Muller of LaPorte; in-laws, Dennis and Sally Biege of LaPorte; grandmother-in-law, Lena Biege of LaPorte; one sister, Joan (Bruce) Kramer of LaPorte; three brothers, Peter (Chris) Muller of LaPorte, Paul (Cyndi) Muller of Rock Falls, IL, and Frank (Debbie) Muller of LaPorte; sister-in-law, Tina (Garry) Bowers of LaPorte; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Jim Muller; and his grandparents.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Center Township Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the Mass on Monday at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.

Lewis Pelis Sr., 1937-2013

obit photoPelisLewis Gene Pelis Sr., 76, of Walkerton, IN, died Sept. 17, 2013, at IU Health Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in LaPorte on March 8, 1937, to Fred and Margaret (Wells) Pelis.

Lewis served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1957-60. He retired in 2000 after working as a supervisor for four decades in the corrugated and steel industries. He attended LaPorte Missionary Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and sports. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

On June 5, 1965, he married Virginia Lantero, who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved children, Lewis Gene Pelis Jr. of Mishawaka, IN, and Virginia Pelis-Ryan of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren, Jordon (Eric) LaFaucia of Princeton, IL, Jessica Pelis of Terre Haute, IN, Conner, Cheyenne and Colton Pelis, all of Mishawaka, and Jack and Tess Ryan, both of Charlotte; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Janet (Bill) Crittenden of Parrish, FL, and Ellen (Mitch) King of Eufaula, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Pelis.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at LaPorte Missionary Church on Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Galloway will officiate. Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until the service at the church. Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

She was born July 7, 1951, in Michigan City to John Robert and Emily Ellen (Seter) Streeting.

Mary was a homemaker who loved caring for her family and home. She enjoyed cooking, making ceramics and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary loved her family deeply.

On Sept. 9, 1967, in Virginia, she married David Boggs, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, David (Penny) Boggs of Mill Creek; three sisters, Helen (Bob) Tibbs of Rolling Prairie, IN, Angeline (Greg) McClelland of LaPorte and Becky (Delbert) Bailey of Fish Lake, IN; two brothers, Johnny (Paula)Streeting of Michigan City and Anthony Streeting of La Porte; two grandchildren, Emalee and David Allen; two stepchildren, Rodney Foutch and Nicole Evans, both of Cumberland, KY; four step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, David Streeting; and one son, Tony Allen Boggs.

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastors Fred Miller and Ernie Milton officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Rolling Prairie Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 29, 1953, in Michigan City to Harry Edwards and Ruby (Perkins) Piotrowski.

Roxann was a very family-oriented person. She loved her grandchildren very much. Roxann enjoyed cooking big dinners for the family during the holidays. She will be loved and missed by everyone.

On Jan. 2, 1972, in Heston, IN, she married Robert Hall, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Bobbi (Marc) Jania of Westville, IN; two sons, Matt Hall and Billy Hall, both of Michigan City; two brothers, Wayne Edwards of southern Indiana and Donald (Lisa) Edwards of Michigan City; five sisters, Betty (Joe) Coar and Caralyn (Earl) Callahan, both of LaPorte, Linda Babb and Jeanette Jones, both of Michigan City, and Wonda (Tony) Morumoto of Florida; five grandchildren, Jordan, Landen and Dawson, all of Michigan City, and Gaige and Gia of Westville; and one great-grandchild, Jenessi of Michigan City.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Carl Edwards and Chuck Edwards.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Full Gospel Church, 2700 Ohio St., Michigan City, with Dennis Pickens officiating. Doors will open at noon for friends. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Miss Helen Anna Chrobak, 91, of LaPorte, died at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Golden Living/Fountainview Nursing Home, LaPorte.

She was born July 26, 1922, in LaPorte to Andrew and Karolina (Mrozek) Chrobak. She returned to LaPorte upon her retirement in 1985.

Helen retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, and retired from the Illinois Department of Labor. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Rosary Society, Polish Falcons 564, Friends of the Library, American Legion Post 83 of LaPorte, and Swanson Activity Center. She was a LaPorte High School and Butler University graduate and received her master’s degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

She leaves behind her sister, Caroline Miles of Jupiter, FL, several nieces and nephews, and her caregivers, Sharon, Pat, Kathleen and Beverly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, John, Stanley and Andrew Chrobak.

A private family graveside service will be held in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

She was born April 16, 1956, in LaPorte to Bernard and Barbara (Spencer) Hannon.

Joyce completed her education as a medical assistant. She worked with her husband, Tim, for many years as an office manager. She worked with Tim building a chiropractic practice and was passionate about chiropractic and holistic medicine.

Joyce loved her children fiercely and was their confidant. She was involved in every activity they participated in, spending countless hours on baseball and soccer fields, as well as at their schools. Joyce loved gardening and baking, and did both well. She loved going to LA Fitness and working out with Tim. She was a nature lover and spent time camping, visiting state parks and finding private scenic areas. Joyce loved the family farm and found peace there. She was kind, loving and funny, and could always be counted on to have everyone in stitches. Joyce was deeply spiritual and found great strength and wisdom in her faith. She was a fabulous wife, mother, sister and friend; her dignity and strength in the face of adversity was humbling.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Timothy Kistler; sons, Blake and Grant Kistler; daughter, Rachel Kistler; and siblings, Christine Hannon, Lou Ann Robinson, Mark Hannon, Janet (Harold) Qualkinbush and Shawn (Julie) Hannon.

Her parents preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at noon at Castleton United Methodist Church, 7101 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, Fishers, IN, is handling arrangements.

img003Mr. John O. Rogers, 80, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital after a short illness.

He was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Boone County, IN, to Everett and Vivian (Cason) Rogers. He had lived here for 52 years, coming from Frankfort, IN.

John retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 31 years of service as an inventory analyst. He attended St. Peter Catholic Church. John graduated from Jackson Township High School, Clinton County, IN, and was a 1962 Ball State graduate with a bachelor of science degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1952-1956 during the Korean War. He was a former Frankfort, IN, American Legion member, a member of the Whirlpool retiree group and a former Elks Lodge member. He loved his family, grandchildren and his dog, Flossie.

On Nov. 18, 1961, in LaPorte, he married Gail A. Tracy, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas Rogers of Champaign-Urbana, IL; Steven “Casey” (Anita) Rogers of Noblesville, IN, and Michael “Mickey“ (Mike Barclay) Rogers of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Olivia Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rebecca Cohee and Cora Jaksa; and five brothers, Maurice, Loren, Raymond, Linn and C.M. “Skip” Rogers.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

He was born July 16, 1926, in Newburgh, IN, to Martin S. and Eddie (Scott) Brack.

Kenneth was the owner and operator of Ken’s Painting Service. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 21 of Westville, IN. Three things Kenneth enjoyed most were playing golf, woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Jackie Shrader of LaPorte; two sons, Gary Brack and Randall (Barbara) Brack, both of Evansville, IN; two daughters, Rosanna (John) Gentry and Regina Clark, both of Evansville; eight grandchildren, Kelley Castillo, Jennifer Bland, Kristina Brack, Sarah Beth Gentry, Adam Brack, John Martin Gentry, Nathan Ries, and Adrian Ries; and six great-grandchildren.

A life celebration will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the service. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, IN, on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m.

She was born Sept. 20, 1973, in LaPorte to Jesse and Imelda (Garza) Ruiz.

Jessica worked at The Village Shoppes, New Carlisle. She previously worked as director of activities for memory care at Esplande Gardens, San Antonio, TX. Jessica was a member of Faith Fellowship Church of God, LaPorte. She enjoyed attending church, cooking, painting, puzzles, crafts, and jewelry making. Jessica was an animal lover; she especially loved her dog, Nikki.

Surviving are her father, Jesse (Adela) Ruiz of LaPorte; her mother, Imelda Ruiz of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Cami (Jeff) Graves of Kansas City, KS, and Julissa (Gabriel Medrano) Guerrero of Mathis, TX; one son, Julian Guerrero of New Carlisle; two brothers, Louis (Jamie) Ruiz of New Carlisle and Brandon Ruiz of LaPorte; three sisters, Farrah Ruiz of San Antonio and Celia and Shayla Ruiz, both of LaPorte; one grandchild, Audrey Medrano; her fiancé, Jacob Schmidt of New Carlisle; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents and other beloved family members on both sides.

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Rev. Jesse Moore officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 3 p.m. until the service.

Raymond E. Swanson 001Raymond E. Swanson, 78, of Michigan City, IN, died unexpectedly at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Franciscan St. Anthony Health, Michigan City.

He was born May 19, 1935, in Michigan City to Paul and Florence (Vermilyer) Swanson.

Raymond was an independent business owner; he owned P&R Distributors for 20 years and owned Swanson Carry-Out for 10 years. Raymond honorably served in the Army Reserves for six years. He was a member of LaPorte PNA, FOP Dunes Lodge 75, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 23 of Michigan City, Polish Falcons of LaPorte, and Fish and Game Club, where he formerly served as second vice president. Raymond loved going to auctions and restoring classic antique cars. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and especially his bluegrass music. Raymond was a loving father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Ray will be sadly missed.

Surviving are one daughter, Lynn Swanson of LaPorte; one son, Charles Swanson of Michigan City; three stepchildren, Bill (Lucy) Thompson of Michigan City, Isabelle (Jim) Grzesk of LaPorte and Laurie (Larry) Clemons of Michigan City; one sister, Nancy (William) McIntyre of Trail Creek, IN; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and his loving companion, Patricia Steinke of Michigan City.

Preceding him in death were his parents; former wife, Peggy Swanson; and one son, Brian Swanson.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Jim Bouslog officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the service.

20131116-122833_LorenBlankenship246Loren Blankenship, 17, of LaPorte, passed away in his mother’s arms surrounded by family, nurses and physicians who cared for him deeply at South Bend Memorial Children’s Hospital on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.

Loren was born June 6, 1996, in Oak Harbor, WA, to Jo Anna (Fritzen) Luther. The angels freed him of his lifelong illness on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.

Loren was his mother’s whole world. She nurtured, cared, and fought his battles with him until the very end. She was his voice, and he was the love of her life. He gave her strength and taught her patience to get through each day no matter the challenge. Loren touched so many lives and was loved and cared for deeply by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Jo Anna (Fritzen) Luther; grandparents, “Nanny and Papa,” Charles and Shirley Fritzen of LaPorte; and several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind his buddy, Tim Anderson, his best friend of 10 years; Dom Luther and Mark Montez; his dear cousin “Sissy,” Kalyn Jarrett, and his puppy, Ernie.

Loren was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Leroy and Isabelle Fritzen and Orville and Eliza Newland.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. A life celebration will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take place.

Audrey Ginther obit photo 001Audrey Alice Page Ginther, 61, of Mill Creek, IN, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Kindred of Northern Indiana Hospital, Mishawaka, IN.

She was born Aug. 30, 1952, in LaPorte to Dillard D. and Kathryn F. (Hoffman) Page.

Audrey was a graduate of LaPorte High School and earned a nursing degree at Purdue North Central. She was a registered nurse for 27 years at LaPorte Hospital. She had also worked at Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, IN, and at Fountainview Nursing Facility, LaPorte. Audrey loved cooking the recipes she collected. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Mackinac Island every year. She loved animals.

On May 16, 1976, at Mackinac Island, MI, she married Rickey Ginther, who survives.

Also surviving are her son, Kevin (Trinity) Ginther of Noblesville, IN; father, Dillard D. Page of Mill Creek; sisters, Claudia (Robert) Klinefelter of The Villages, FL, and Annette Page of Duluth, MN; and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn F. Page, on June 22, 2012.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Walter Schult, 1936-2013

Walter SchultWalter Schult, 76, of LaPorte, and formerly of Elkhart, IN, died unexpectedly early afternoon Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1936, in Elkhart to Elmer and Marie (Doty) Schult.

Walter was the head of the shipping department for Jaymar Ruby in Michigan City for 28 years. He also worked as a manager of the tool department at Lowes for 13 years. Walter honorably served as an M.P. in the U.S. Army for two years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and feeding squirrels, antiques, and especially his woodworking.

On Feb. 14, 1964, in Elkhart, he married Deanna (Wolf) Schult, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Kip (Tricia) Schult and Michelle Mark Schult, both of Michigan City, and Bob (Lynn) Schult of LaPorte; eight grandchildren, Mark Schult, Megan Beach, Ian Schult, Natalee Mark, Alex Mark, Carly Mark, Walter Schult, and Jonny Schult; three great-grandchildren, Liam Schult, Alice Schult and Nolan Schult; one sister and two brothers.

Preceding him in death were his parents; father-in-law and best friend, Charlie Wolf; and neighbor and best friend, Dennis Oleary.

Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Angeline “Angie” Klingbeil, 1932-2013

Klingbeil PhotoAngeline “Angie” B. Klingbeil, 81, of LaPorte, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital. .

She was born in Chicago on Oct. 22, 1932, to Salvatore and Maria (Mazzferro) Andriano.

Angeline was a homemaker and a fantastic cook who loved to entertain. She was the first female school board member at St. John’s Lutheran School, a past member of Beechwood Women’s Club, and an active member at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte.

On April 12, 1958, in Chicago, she married LeRoy Klingbeil, who survives.

Also surviving are her beloved daughters, Jill Klingbeil of LaPorte, Gail (Mark) Johnson of LaPorte and Wendy (Jeff) Hiland of Cobb, WI; two granddaughters, Kate (Chris) Bohlin of LaPorte and Sarah (Garrett Kautz) Johnson of LaPorte; and a sister, Fran Andriano of Wheaton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Dehlinger and Rose Ramelow; and three brothers, Joseph Andriano, Rocco Andriano and Dominic Andriano.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Visitation will be at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow the service at Carmel Cemetery, LaPorte.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bethany Foundation, 102 G St., LaPorte, IN 46350; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
