Felicia Dick, 1966-2014

IMG_1937Felicia Dick, 48, of Westville, IN, died Nov. 29, 2014, in LaPorte.

She was born July 30, 1966, in LaPorte to Marvin and Linda (White) Wireman.

Felicia worked as an office manager in LaPorte. She enjoyed being carefree, listening to music and singing in the car. She was the type of person who not only enjoyed laughing but loved making others laugh.

On May 17, 1986, in LaPorte, she married Gary Dick, who survives her.

She is also survived by her three children, Brenna, Kaitlyn and Jadon Dick, who all reside in Westville; her parents; and her siblings, Jeaniene (Matt) Emerick of LaPorte, Carl (Gina) Wireman of Etna Green, IN, Lowell Wireman of LaPorte and Austin (Holly) Wireman of LaPorte.

Visitation will be at Newhard Funeral Home, Westville, on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Rosetta “Kaye” Regan, 1943-2014

img038Rosetta “Kaye” Regan, 71, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at St. Anthony Hospice, Michigan City, IN.

She was born March 17, 1943.

Kaye was a loving, caring person to her honorary sons and daughter and to all she met. She will be missed dearly by all.

Kaye is survived by her loving husband, Terrence E. (Terry) Regan; daughters, Cassandra Regan-Enloe and Stephanie L. Regan; three grandchildren, Kaleigh, Kyle and Dakota Enloe; two great-grandchildren, James and Hailey (Kaleigh’s) Enloe-(Doc) Caine.

Friends may visit with the family at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. A family burial will be held in July of 2015 in Lizemore, W VA, where she was born.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Franciscan Communities, 1225 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, IN 46360.

Galloway, Gene R. obit photoGene Raymond Galloway, 74, of LaPorte, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte.

He was born Jan. 3, 1940, in LaPorte County to Jesse and Ada (Stanage) Galloway.

Gene owned and operated Galloway’s Service in Westville, IN, for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his beloved children, Lana (Kirt) David and Kevin (Davena) Galloway, both of LaPorte; grandchildren, Hayden David and Zachary, Stephen and Lindsey Galloway; brother, Richard Galloway of LaPorte; and sisters, Mary Ingole of Granger, IN, and Nancy Bush of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Carl, Jesse, Ed, Marion, Jack, Joe, Claude, and Chuck Galloway.

A private Celebration of Life service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.

Gilbert “Gib” Stock, 1940-2014

Gilbert “Gib” D. Stock, 74, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died peacefully at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, in his home.

He was born May 24, 1940, in Kokomo, IN, to Harry O. and Edith (Fenn) Stock.

Gib was an associate member of FOP Lodge 75, member of the Five Horsemen Club in Michigan City, IN, and a past member of American Legion Post 37 in Michigan City. He honorably served in the Air Force from July 1959 to November 1966. He was an avid fisherman.

On Aug. 1, 1969, in Niles, MI, he married Patricia (Noland) Stock, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Teresia K. (Don) Sapp Ganger and Matthew E. (Angel) Stock; one sister, Arlene E. Stock; three grandchildren, Zachery, Nathan and Paige; one nephew, Andrew (Leah) Stock; and close friend, Rick Sarvis.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Gary E. Stock.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Jay Carter officiating. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service.

Gregory Boyce, 1949-2014

Gregory BoyceGregory Alan Boyce, 65, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, in his home after battling cancer for the last six years.

He was born May 29, 1949, in LaPorte to Vernon and Margaret (Wellinski) Boyce.

Greg was a 1969 graduate of LaPorte High School. He honorably served in the Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. Greg worked in the maintenance department for the LaPorte County Courthouse and was a member of the AMVETS in Monticello, IN. He was a NASCAR fan who enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, motorcycles, and camping, as well as building and making things. Greg liked to take trips to Disney World and Gatlinburg, TN.

On April 6, 1974, in Michigan City, IN, he married Denice (Pilar) Boyce, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer (Timothy) Canfield of Burns Harbor, IN; two sisters, Tamara Boyce of LaPorte and Connie (Wayne) Greene of Scottsdale, AZ; one grandchild, Jeremy Canfield of Burns Harbor; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Pilar of Michigan City.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Julie Schwartz; and one brother, Michael Boyce.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 7, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.

Marvin Goad, 1929-2014

Obit PhotoMarvin L. Goad, 85, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at Brentwood in LaPorte.

He was born July 6, 1929, in South Bend, IN, to Lewis and Opal Faye (Dewees) Goad.

Marv graduated from LaPorte High School in 1947 and received an associate degree from Purdue University. He retired in 1992 from Bendix Corp. in LaPorte after 37 years as an engineering designer. Marv served as the general chairman of the LaPorte Jaycees 4th of July Celebration in 1958. He was a member and past president of the LaPorte Rotary Club, was a Paul Harris Fellow through Rotary International, and was a past LaPorte High School Athletic Booster Club president, Sunday school teacher for 50 years, and a Meals on Wheels volunteer and board member for many years. Marv was one of the founders and organizers of the LaPorte High School Athletic Booster Club in 1975. In 1981 he received the President’s Award from LaPorte High School Athletic Booster Club for his outstanding service and dedication above and beyond the call of duty. Marv was the announcer for LPHS girls basketball through the 1979-2003 seasons, totaling 23 years. Then he was the announcer for LPHS girls volleyball 1989-2005 season, totaling 15 years. His next announcing assignment was for LPHS boys baseball from 1992-2004, totaling 12 years, and his final announcing assignment was for LPHS boys basketball from the 2001-2005 seasons, totaling 4 years. He also had the scoring assignment for 6 years. This totaled 10 years of service for this team.

Together with his wife, Jane, he was a member of the Dugout Club of the LaPorte Baseball Association. Marv and Jane received the LPHS Athletic Booster Service Award for their contribution to the athletic program through the countless hours of voluntary service and dedication to the goal of promoting high school athletics in the LaPorte Community. In 1999 they were recipients of the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Distinguished Service Award. In February 2014 Marv and Jane were inducted into the Norman J. Hubner Athletic Hall of Fame.

Marv was a former member of Countryside Christian Church and most recently attended First Church of God in LaPorte. Marv and Jane served as coordinators of SIA (Seniors in action) at Countryside Christian Church.

On March 28, 1946, in LaPorte, he married Jane (Gourley) Goad, who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved daughters, Cynthia A. (Robert) Cutler of LaPorte and Kathleen D. (James) Abbott of Irons, MI; and four grandsons, Thaddeus (Laura) Cutler of LaPorte, Andrew Abbott of Chicago, Layton Cutler of Los Angeles and Dr. Matthew (Holly) Abbott of Ann Arbor, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Roger Ash and Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Wanda Baird, 1929-2014

BAIRD PHOTOWanda Rae Baird, 85, of Louisville, KY, and formerly of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014.

She was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Gary, IN, to Joseph Rae Kuhl and Laura Belle (Stoner) Kuhl.

Wanda graduated from East Gary Edison in 1948. She started work in the Rolling Prairie Post Office as a clerk in 1958, was appointed to postmaster in 1984, and retired in October of 1992. Rolling Prairie knew her as Mrs. Claus at Christmas time as she initiated the Santa Claus box for the children and answered every letter. She was an officer in the National League of Postmasters, president of South Bend and Gary Chapter of Postmasters, four years vice president of State League of Postmasters, and state legislative chairman and chairman of numerous national committees. She received numerous awards for lobby safety and philatelic displays. After retirement she moved to Mesa, AZ, until 2012, when she moved to Louisville.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Marla Rae (Baird) Vido (husband Paul) of Louisville; her son, Patrick W. Baird of Rolling Prairie; two grandsons, Michael Baird of Rolling Prairie and Jason Baird of Ocala, FL; nieces, Judy (Wilfred) Batista and Nancy (Del) Coughlin, both of Arizona, Patty Stephens of Hobart, IN, and Linda (Larry) Hedges of Merrillville, IN; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, William Baird.

Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rolling Prairie Cemetery.

Richard Panos, 1938-2014

Richard Paul Panos, 75, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born Dec. 3, 1938, in Chicago to John and Frances (DeKirsig) Panos.

Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana University, and went on to obtain a master’s degree in education. His long tenure teaching in community schools brought him great satisfaction while enriching the lives of many LaPorte children. Richard spent his retirement years sharing his love of nature through drawings, paintings and poetry.

He is survived by beloved siblings Joan Depke, Frances Dynak and John Panos. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Father Eduardo Malagon officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the Mass.

Margaret Johnson, 1922-2014

She was born July 11, 1922, in Walkerton, IN, to William Henry Whitmer and Louise Charlotte (Corle) Whitmer.

Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church of North Liberty, IN, and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. Margaret was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for everyone. She was an avid bird watcher, loved watching her kittens and enjoyed being a Avon lady. Margaret was a mom and mother to everyone; she loved her husband and her children. Margaret shared the love of Jesus to everyone she met.

On Jan. 27, 1968, in Walkerton, she married Vernon Ralph Johnson, who preceded her in death April 24, 2014.

Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Papp; one grandson; one great-grandson; four brothers, Lee Whitmer, Lester Whitmer, Floyd Whitmer and Loyal “Bud” Whitmer; and one sister, Esther I. Clark.

She is survived by five sons, William (Pat) Harrold of Council Bluff, IA, Michael (Becky) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff (Michelle) Johnson of Walkerton, and Timothy Harrold and Thomas Harrold, both of LaPorte; three daughters, Pamm (Phil) Martin of Goshen, IN, Gina (Dan) Rotermund of Troy, MI, and Laura (Dion) Winter of New Carlisle, IN; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lloyd M. Whitmer of Lakeview, MI.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Joyner officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek.

She was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Chicago to Walter and Lula (Hurt) Lieber.

Joan worked as an operator for General Telephone and in food service at LaPorte High School. Joan enjoyed gardening and the LaPorte radio station, and also loved cats. Joan loved her family and always kept in touch.

On Sept. 9, 1946, in LaPorte, she married Jack Kirkham, who preceded her in death Nov. 30, 1986.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Carol Kirkham; and one sister, Dolores Kirkham.

She is survived by four daughters, Karen (Bruce) Todd and Kathy (Jerry) Mazur, both of LaPorte, Kay Ford of Michigan City, IN, and Korene (Jerry) Heying of Laveen, AZ; sister, Linda Reeves of Homewood, IL; seven grandchildren, Becky Kirkham, Jenny Mazur-McCombs, Brian Mazur, Julie Sparks, Rachel Heying-Edwards, Stephanie Brown, and Laurie Todd; five great-grandchildren, Teanna Sparks, Jahmal Sparks, Chloe Smith, Addison Mazur and Trenton Walkling; and four great-great-grandchildren, Tejah Sparks, Malcomb Davis, Justice Truelove and Faith Truelove.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. A memorial service will be held at noon Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.

She was born May 21, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Milton and Frances (Welch) Heins.

Janet worked at Bernacchi’s Farm Market and Whirlpool in LaPorte for many years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Madonna Circle. Jan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose joy was to spend time with family and friends.

On Oct. 13, 1956, she married Donald E. Holloway, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Vicki (Jon) Jamison of Lawrence, KS, and Pam Arvesen of LaPorte; one son, Scott (Donna) Holloway of LaPorte; grandchildren, Chasidy Cavanna, Samantha Wright, Bailey Holloway, Allison Jamison, Lauren Klosowski, Don S. Holloway, Bryant Arvesen, and Joshua Jamison; and five great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her brothers, David and Lloyd Heins, and her parents.

Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. Peter Catholic Church, LaPorte. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.

She was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Frankfort, IN, to Ernest Edward and Viola Grace (Ham) Baughman.

Barbara enjoyed baking for her family and multiple crafts, such as painting, drawing and sewing. She loved music, playing both the piano and organ as well as singing.

Surviving are her beloved children, David Allen Creech of Mishawaka, IN, Cindy L. Creech of Niles, MI, Tina Marie Ward of Osceola, IN, Nanie Ann Creech of Sterling, VA, Charles Christopher Creech of LaPorte, and Karl Ernest (Verali) Creech of Rolling Prairie; 11 grandchildren, Kristina M. Davis, Johnathan M. Tripp, Melissa M. Tripp, Karl Creech, Jeremy Creech, Aimee Creech, Karlos Creech, Sarah Creech, Christopher Creech, Leanne Creech, and Kyle Creech; 10 great-grandchildren, Chase Sears, Zachary Davis, Chyanne Davis, Cameron Davis, Ayriana Tripp, Jordan Tripp, Gage Tripp, Josiah Tripp, Vin Creech, and Vy Creech; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Cleveland Martin; two sons, James Michael and Patrick Jon Creech; and a grandson, Jim Creech.

A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte. A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte.

Roberta Maxine Weliver, 82, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 2:03 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital with her beloved husband by her side.

She was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Ord, Nebraska, to Rev. Linton M. and Olive (Smith) Real.

Roberta lived most of her life in LaPorte, primarily working at LaPorte and Kingwood hospitals. She enjoyed all sewing crafts and spending time with family and friends. Roberta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

On July 16, 1950, in LaPorte, she married Eugene “Gene” Weliver, who survives.

Also surviving are her four children, Geoffrey (Anna Lee) Weliver, Karen (Michael) Boatright, Stephen (Amy) Weliver and Lee Barker; one brother, Dale (Dottie) Real; two sisters-in-law, Kate Harness and Sandy Williams; 10 grandchildren, Heather Weliver, Erin (Andy) Dammeyer, Nicholas (Laura) Fritzen, Stacy (Todd) Stromer, Kelly Nunemaker, Michael (Jamie) Boatright, Nicole (Shawn) Rand, Brock (Cole) Weliver, Kyle Weliver, and Brooke Russell; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Cremation will take place. There will be no services. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Richard Piotrowicz, 1939-2014

Mr. Richard N. Piotrowicz, 75, of North Liberty, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN.

He was born Nov. 10, 1939, in LaPorte to Ferdinand and Francis (Novak) Piotrowicz.

Richard had been dock worker for Shippers & Ashland Chemical. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Richard received a degree from IUSB. He coached in and ran the youth league in North Liberty. He enjoyed fishing and collecting Indian artifacts, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

On Dec. 16, 1960, in Illinois, he married Virginia “Ginny” (Carlson) Piotrowicz, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Scott (April) Piotrowicz of North Liberty and Brian (Terri) Piotrowicz of Lake In The Hills, IL; two daughters, Robin (Roberto) Paz of Covington, LA, and Kay Piotrowicz of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Adam Piotrowicz, Kelsey Odell, Elizabeth Paz, Maria Paz, Richard Straight, and Ashley Cosamento; two great-grandchildren, Callie and Kaiden; two half-brothers, Kenny and Brad; one half-sister, Suzie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Mrs. Evelyn Louise Bannwart, 93, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Miller’s Health and Rehabilitation, LaPorte.

She was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Lowell, IN, to Walter and Florence (Barnes) Schilling.

Evelyn had retired from American Home Foods in LaPorte and also had worked for the Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City, IN. She was an active member of Springville Community Church and the Women’s Missionary Society.

On Dec. 24, 1948, in LaPorte, she married Russell Bannwart, who preceded her in death July 11, 1988. Her first marriage was on Oct. 25, 1941, in Crown Point, IN, to Earl W. Burns, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1945.

Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her two daughters, LaCinda (Robert) Browning and Dawn (Wayne) Johnson, both of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Courtney (Gregg) Salyers, Heather (Brett) Kessler, Bryan Johnson and Steven Johnson; and six great-grandchildren, Emerson Salyers, Benjamin Salyers, Noah Salyers, Blake Kessler, Brady Kessler, and Brock Kessler.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 12, from 9 to 10 a.m. A life celebration will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Luke Bedtelyon officiating. Interment will follow at Springville Cemetery, LaPorte.

Collette PhotoJamie Ahlie Collette, 46, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born Aug. 17, 1968, in LaPorte to Thomas J. and Linda M. (Abiney) Messman.

Jamie loved following Jeff Gordon, the Chicago Cubs and football. He also enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and online gambling games.

On April 30, 1994, he married Gayle Collette, who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved daughter, Alyssa Collette of LaPorte; mother, Linda Messman; sister, Renee Messman of LaPorte; grandmother, Lucy Emery of LaPorte; mother-in-law, Pauline (Bob) Spencer of LaPorte; nieces, Morgan and Madison; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy, and his grandfather, Ahlie Abiney.

Visitation will be at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, IN.

She was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Vincennes, IN, to James O. and Bessie Gladis (Heldelman) Cockerham.

Patricia worked 20-plus years for American Home Foods in LaPorte. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and going to garage sales and then reselling her items. Patricia took great pride in her family.

On June 24, 1950, in Washington, IN, she married Norman W. Jacobs, who preceded her in death April 27, 2014.

Patricia was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Rosalie) Jacobs of Kingsford Heights, IN, and Norman “Bruce” (Kim) Jacobs of Walkerton, IN; daughter, Erika (Cecil) Cockran of Winamac, IN; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yozell Kirk of Vincennes and Maryetta Wagoner of LaPorte; one brother, Kenneth Cockerham of Seymour, IN; and her extended family.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Monday, Dec. 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ann Dill officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, at a later date.

She was born Nov. 15, 1949, to Forrest and Dorothy (Wraley) Cannon.

Diana was a very giving, strong, loving and funny woman. She was employed with American Rubber for many years.

She leaves behind daughters, Stacy Measles, Amy Dow, Tammy Measles and Brittany Stewart; a son, William Dow; grandchildren, Dallas, Emerald, Tequila, Austin, Quentin, Casey, and Serina; sister, Debbie Loop; and brothers, Steve and Billy Cannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Jo; and brother, George Cannon.

Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.

Joseph Pietrowski, 1927-2014

Pietrowski, Joseph PhotoJoseph Leon Pietrowski, 87, of LaPorte, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at his daughter’s home in LaPorte.

He was born Nov. 20, 1927, in South Bend, IN, to Leo and Clara (Taberski) Pietrowski.

Joseph worked as a truck driver for over 40 years.  He was a member of American Legion and Moose Lodge 492, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Joseph was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed football, boxing and MMA. He enjoyed working in his garden and yard and playing pool and cards.

On Feb. 14, 1953, he married Josephine Rose Borkowski, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Esther and Leona; brother-in-law, Edward Dean; and two grandsons, Michael Bishop Jr. and John Patrick Bishop.

Surviving are his beloved children, Susan (Thomas) Jasinski, Mary Ann (Mike) Bishop, Nancy (Ron) Smith, Tina (Dan) Soria, and Larry Pietrowski, all of LaPorte; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Dean; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Rev. Roger Ash officiating. Full military honors will be held during the service. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the service. A cremation committal will take place following the service.
