Jeffrey E. Thompson, 70, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
He was born Aug. 22, 1944, in Clinton, IN, to Edward and Florence (Truitt) Thompson. He had lived in LaPorte since 1975, coming from Hobart, IN.
Jeff was an insurance agent, having retired from Prudential Insurance after 32 years of service. He served in The Indiana National Guard from 1964-1970. He was a member of Life Underwriters and a 1962 graduate of Newport High School, and attended Indiana State University. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and classic cars.
On July 2, 1980, Jeffrey married Francisca “Franny” Kier, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Monica (John) McCombs of Discovery Bay, CA, and Brie Thompson of Portland, OR; a son, Kenneth Thompson of Portland, OR; a sister, Lynda Profitt of Kettering, OH; and nieces, Stephanie Jayne and Tracy Jayne (Mark Crews).
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Christine Thompson; his in-laws, Kenny and Angie Kier; and brother-in-law, Leo Profitt.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, where family and friends may visit from noon until 2 p.m.
