Norman “Stormin’ Norman” Dreibelbis, 82, of LaPorte, died Friday, May 1, 2015, at his home.
He was born April 19, 1933, in North Liberty, IN, to Charles and Lura (Sultenright) Dreibelbis.
Norman was a United States Army veteran and retired in 1990 as a general foreman for the City of LaPorte Street Department. Norman enjoyed grilling, gardening and tending his fish pond. He especially loved raising his family.
On Oct. 3, 1970, he married Mary (Wisler) Dreibelbis, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Ronald Dreibelbis of Michigan City, IN, Keith Dreibelbis of LaPorte, Charles (Vicky) Dreibelbis of Rochester, IN, Joe (Dolly) Dreibelbis and Brian (Judi) Dreibelbis, both of Bourbon, IN, Debi (David Woods) Howard of Argos, IN, and Rebecca (Kent) Thornburg of Colorado; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Greg; three sisters and three brothers.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the service, beginning with the presentation of Full Military Honors by the LaPorte Honor Guard at 3 pm. A cremation committal will take place following the service.
