Travis Disler, 1923-2015

Travis P. Disler, 91, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born June 30, 1923, in Fort Wayne, IN, to Charles J. and Leontine (Juday) Disler.

Travis graduated from Leo High School in Leo, IN. He served honorably as a pilot of a P-38 on reconnaissance missions with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge 224 in Leo. He retired from GTE as a communication consultant.

Travis is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Helen A. (Hollopeter) Disler.

Also surviving are his sister, Jackie (Disler) Clark of Tulsa, OK; his beloved children, son David Disler of Fort Wayne and daughter Jobey Hendel of Chicago; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at First United Methodist Church, LaPorte. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the service. A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, IN 46350.
