Julia G. Suita (Shuta) Collard, 90, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, in hospice care.
She was born Dec. 18, 1925, to Michael and Anna Suita.
Julia and her husband owned and operated Ye Olde Bike Shop in LaPorte for 40 years. She had work at Kingsbury Ordnance Plant during World War II and later at Alcoa-Howmet, and taught ceramic classes.
Julia married Bernard Collard, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Snyder, and brothers, Michael Soda, William Shuta, Steve Shuta and Carl Shuita.
Julia leaves behind a daughter, Nancy (Jim) Hannon of LaPorte; granddaughters, Missy (Jay) Sampson of Cincinnati, OH, and Lisa (Marc) Munson of Fort Wayne, IN; great-grandchildren, Kate, Luke, Anna and Lauren; and many dear nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, at St. Peter Catholic Church, LaPorte, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
