Lois Marie Johnson, 85, of LaPorte, left for her eternal vacation on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
She was born May 20, 1929, in LaPorte to John and Lola (Zimmerman) Reed.
Lois attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Church and was in many groups at the church. She was on many bowling teams throughout her life. Lois was proud of her work as a stay-at-home wife and mother. She also worked for Shaffer’s Laundry in LaPorte, and later in life worked at St. John’s School as the housekeeper and volunteered at the St. John’s Thrift Shop.
She was joined in marriage on July 17, 1948, to George A. Johnson, who survives in Michigan City, IN.
Also surviving are her beloved children, Keith Johnson of Elkhart, IN, Mark Johnson and Kent Johnson, both of Valparaiso, IN, and Kara (Dan) Phillips of LaPorte; seven grandchildren, Katy (Dan) Wolf of Indianapolis, Beth (Phil) Putz, Jack Johnson of LaPorte, Kim (Terry) Balentine, Danny (Robin) Phillips, Heather Phillips, and Kayla Johnson; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She joined her parents and several aunts and uncles at her new home in heaven.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25, with Pastor Ronald Brauer officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery, LaPorte.
