John Esposito, 1947-2015

20150129-082317_JohnEspositoMr. John Edward Esposito, 67, of LaPorte, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

He was born Sept. 7, 1947, in LaPorte to Edward Esposito and Margaret Alberta (Huff) Esposito-Tolton.

John was a retired construction worker for Walsh Construction, where he oversaw many projects including construction of the Blue Chip Casino. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he also became interested in the Martial Arts and earned a 2nd degree Black Belt. He enjoyed working at the fairgrounds and helping to improve our lakes. John was a familiar face amongst various clubs and groups throughout the city over the years, as he enjoyed committing himself to work that benefited the community. He was an accomplished water skier and an avid car collector, with Corvettes being his favorite.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Alberta Tolton of LaPorte; companion, Yvonne Curley of LaPorte; three sons, Aaron Esposito, Colton Esposito and Ross Esposito, all of LaPorte; a soon to be born grandchild, Oliver Johnathon Esposito; brother, Charles Esposito of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Patricia Tyler of Buda, TX, and Julie Essling of LaPorte; four nieces and four nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father, Edward Esposito, and stepfather, Dick Tolton.

Private family services were held Thursday, Jan. 29, at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, with Deacon Chris Hawkins officiating. Interment followed at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
