Mr. Carl E. Holt, 69, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his home.
He was born July 5, 1944, in Lebanon, KY, to Gilbert and Anna (Rice) Holt and was a lifelong resident of the LaPorte area.
Carl worked for Teledyne Casting Service for over 30 years. He was a member of First Church of God. Carl was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, and a member of Rolling Prairie VFW Post 9423. He was a former minister and taught Sunday school at the local nursing homes for many years. Carl’s hobby was cutting wood.
On Dec. 22, 1965, in Honolulu, HI, he married Lynda K. (White) Holt, who preceded him in death Oct. 27, 2012.
Carl was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber (Don) Hughes of LaPorte; son, Carl (Debbi) Holt of Mishawaka, IN; five grandchildren, Brittney Holt, Kayelah Wilkins, Jourdann Holt, Camilla Holt and Steven Holt; great-grandchild, Keven Wilkins; two brothers, Frank Holt and Westley Holt; and a sister, Doris Hundt.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Sunday, May 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. and at First Church of God, LaPorte, on Monday, May 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Interment will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
