Helen I. Stephens, 79, of LaPorte, died March 26, 2014, at Franciscan Hospice in Michigan City, IN.
She was born Nov. 29, 1934, in LaPorte to Ralph Herman and Bessy Jane (Cannon) Gillen.
Helen retired after working as a shipping foreman at Boise Cascade.
On Oct. 8, 1960, she married Gene Stephens, who preceded her in death in 2002.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Gillen; sister, Judy Winters; son, Larry Stephens; and daughter, Carol Lynn Stephens.
Surviving are her beloved children, Shelly (Garry) Tipton of LaPorte and Karen (Chuck) Holderbaugh of Michigan City; nine grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, Daniel, Cynthia, Stephen, Norma, Garry, Natalie, and Bobbie; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul (Rejean) Gillen of The Villages, FL.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later time.
