Jean M. New, 81, of LaPorte, died March 23, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born July 1, 1932, in LaPorte to William and Hazel (Conry) Felton.
Jean was a homemaker. She graduated from LaPorte High School in 1951 and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
On Oct. 11, 1952, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in LaPorte, she married James L. New Jr., who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Rene New; brother, Norman Felton; and sister, Wilma “Kay” Zupp.
Surviving are her son, Richard (Elizabeth) New; daughters, Lori (Darwin) Burns, Sheri (David) Miller, Peggy (Mark) Demchak and Angela (Don) Lamken; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Salem United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Raschka officiating.
