Martha L. Brady, 96, of LaPorte, died March 3, 2014, at her home.
She was born in LaPorte on July 24, 1917, to Elwood Albert and Lucy Ethel (McGarity) Kruger.
Martha was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Naomi Church Circle, LaPorte Business Girls, Incurable Collectors Association, Twilighters Home Extension Club, Girl Scouts, LaPorte Herald-Argus Newspaper Stuffers, McDonald’s Coffee Group, and many Bible study groups. She enjoyed Arts in the Park concerts and collecting coffee mugs.
On March 6, 1943, in Waco, TX, she married Leland Roy “Perk” Brady, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James Kruger, Norman “Dean” Kruger and Elwood Leon Kruger; and five sisters, Mary Kruger, Meredith Meyer, Enid Schmidt, Eunice Sticklen and Barbara Travis.
Surviving are her beloved children: daughter, Mary Lu (Dr. Glenn) Simerlein of LaPorte and son, Daniel (Penny) Brady of Florida; grandchildren, Dr. Scott Simerlein of LaPorte, Dr. Mitzi Simerlein of LaPorte and Jeffrey (Janet) Brady of Montana; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Brady of Canada and Troy Brady of Montana.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, on Thursday, March 13, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Evan Lash will officiate.
