Edward “Eddie” Eugene Modjeska, 73, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Northwest Health – La Porte.
He was born May 10, 1948, in La Porte to Frank F. and Regina (Wozniak) Modjeska.
Edward proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He worked as a set-up man at Dwyer Instruments. Edward enjoyed puzzles, steam engines and Superman. He loved going to Disney World. He had a deep love for his dogs. Edward was a member of American Legion Post 297 and VFW Post 9423, Rolling Prairie, Ind.
On Nov. 28, 1987, in La Porte, he married Lola Jean Moss, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Shelly (Chris) Clarke of Michigan City, Ind., and Brandy (Jack) Wallis of New Carlisle, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Donna Heath of La Porte; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Diana Lynn) Modjeska of New Carlisle, Dorothy Loree of New Carlisle, Mary Andrews of Chicago, Josephine Carroll of New Carlisle and Carol Weber of Jackson, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Donna Moss, Tina Moss and Dawn Walker; brothers-in-law, Larry Moss and Robert Moss; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Miller and Frances Modjeska; infant brother, Thomas Modjeska; and stepson, David Heath.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery, La Porte. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
