David Willard Henning, 66, of LaPorte, died Feb. 15, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born in LaPorte on Aug. 22, 1947, to Willard and Yolanda (Tennis) Henning.
David served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He went on to own and operate, with his wife, The Natural Life health food store in LaPorte for over 34 years. He was extremely active and thoroughly enjoyed playing sports, especially with his grandchildren.
On April 17, 1970, he married Marcia Gray Henning, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Jan-Michael Henning and Tara Cunningham, both of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Danielle Henning, Christian Cunningham and Corey Cunningham, all of LaPorte; and three siblings, Michael (Becky) Henning of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Dixie (Jim) Paul and Diane Holmes, both of LaPorte.
His parents preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at LaPorte Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Andre “Bill” Payne officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, IN, on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m., with full military honors conducted.
