Phillip Siegert, 1949-2014

Phillip SiegertPhillip George Siegert, 64, of Fish Lake, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born in Chicago on May 20, 1949, to Joseph G. and Violet (Halper) Siegert.

Phillip served his country honorably in the United States Army as a military policeman from 1969-71. He was an avid sports fan and always cheered on the Cubs and Blackhawks. He enjoyed playing his Xbox.

On Sept. 8, 1990, he married Mamie Miller, who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved children, Kevin (Stephanie) Siegert of Mishawaka, IN, and Nicki McCollough of Buchanan, MI; stepsons, James (Ruth) Sickman of Fish Lake, Dale (Leasa) Sickman of Columbus, OH, and Tom (Heather) Sickman of Franklin, GA; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bernard “Bernie” Siegert.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. with Rev. Kit B. Billings officiating. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. A private cremation committal will take place.
