Shirley Jean (Shail) Eigenmann, 82, of Tallahassee, FL, died peacefully at 11:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Eden Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Medart, FL.
She was born Nov. 15, 1931, in LaPorte to Carl and Bonnie (Bunton) Shail.
Shirley and her husband were the owners/operators of several Laundromats in LaPorte and one Laundromat in Michigan City, IN, before they retired. In 1987, they sold their last store on J Street and moved to Venice, FL. Shirley enjoyed watching tennis and basketball, and spending time with her family.
On Aug. 27, 1949, Shirley married Richard “Dick” Eigenmann at a ceremony held at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Anthony West and Zoe Strickland.
Surviving are two sons, Bart (Tiffany) Eigenmann of Knoxville, TN, and Bryon (Julie) Eigenmann of LaPorte; one daughter, Beth (Kurt) Hodges of Tallahassee, FL; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, Ronald (Sheri) Shail and Richard “Dick” (Joan) Shail.
