Phyllis Shiff, 66, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at Northwest Health – La Porte.
She was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Holden, W.Va., the daughter of Vester Lee and Gladys Vance Adkins.
Phyllis, who lived in the area for many years, was on the swim team for La Porte High School, where she won a medal. She worked as a waitress for Luigi’s for several years and was a past member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Phyllis enjoyed bold colors and dressed accordingly, and loved listening to music. She kept a special photo album of her late daughter, Connie – her family meant everything to her.
Phyllis is survived by her brother, Jerry David (Marti) Adkins of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Sharon Disbrow of New Carlisle, Ind.; 2 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Connie Shiff; her brother, Leon Adkins; and 2 ex-husbands, Bill Schepel and James Shiff.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church. Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, La Porte, is handling arrangements.
