LaVicie Mae Weaver Runkle went to her eternal home with the Lord and Savior on Nov. 17, 2020.
She was born Sept. 30, 1935, in Wabash County, Ind., to Arthur and Cleo Weaver.
LaVicie graduated from Urbana High School near Wabash in 1954. She married Dean Runkle in August 1956 and they enjoyed 57 years together. Dean preceded her in death in August 2013. They had one daughter, Karen (Craig) Snyder of Monument, Colo., and two grandchildren, Matthew Snyder of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Brooke (Davin) Duke of Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by one sister, Lois (Bill) Rettig of Wabash. Donna Weaver Unger Harstine preceded her in death in June 2007.
LaVicie developed a love of travel, photography and adventure that she pursued throughout her life. She gave her heart and soul as a volunteer for People to People, serving on the International Board of Directors for eight years and as a Trustee for People to People International for many years. She lived and breathed their mission of “peace through understanding.” She loved meeting people and cultivated an endless number of lifelong friendships that she kept dear to her heart throughout all her years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in La Porte, Ind., and Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, Ariz., where they first lived as part-time, then eventually as full-time residents.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Frank L Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, La Porte. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
