Jennifer Martin, 42, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family in La Porte.
She was born Oct. 30, 1978, in La Porte, the daughter of Claude Martin Sr. and Valarie (Tarr) Thompson.
Jennifer enjoyed going to the casino and playing poker and Pokemon. She was always organizing annual cruises for her and her friends. Going to the beach was a passion of hers. She loved her puppies as well.
Jennifer is survived by her father, Claude (Vickie) Martin Sr. of Fish Lake, Ind.; step-father, Timothy (Carrie Ross) Thompson of Mooresville, NC; sister, Angela Ann (Ryan) Pettis of La Porte; two brothers, Jonathan (Rebecca Charlson) Jacobsen of La Porte and Claude (Crystal Sult) Martin, Jr., of New Carlisle, Ind.; brother, Christopher Martin of Denver, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Valarie Thompson, and a brother, William James.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, La Porte, where the family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 17, from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. A life celebration will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Josh Butts Family Reflections officiating. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in Jennifer’s name in care of Haverstock Funeral Home. The family set up a “Go-Fund-Me” account as well.
Due to COVID-19, masks are required to attend the services.
