Shirley Jean Galloway, 91, of La Porte, Ind. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020 at Miller’s Health and Rehab in La Porte.
She was born June 26, 1929 in La Porte to Herman and Mabel (Swanson) Schweder.
In July of 1947, Shirley married Edward Galloway, Sr.
A life-long resident of La Porte, Shirley was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church, La Porte. She and her husband owned Galloway Shell, where she was the office manager. Shirley enjoyed traveling, especially to Vegas. A wonderful mom and grandmother, she really enjoyed her family, especially those grand-babies and great-grand-babies.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Ernie) Livinghouse of La Porte; grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Kirkham and Randy (Dana) Livinghouse; great-grandchildren, Brittney Ryan, Morgan Livinghouse, Madeline Livinghouse, Nick Ryan, Jordan Ryan, Jeffrey Mayer, Madison (Michael) Showalter, and Riley Kirkham; great-great-grandchildren, Makinlee and Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011; son, Eddie, Jr. on Dec. 27, 2010; brothers Bud and Bob Schweder; and sisters, Margaret and Eleanor.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28 at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, where a celebration of life will follow at 11 with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating. Interment will then take place at the Heckman Cemetery Heston, Ind.
