Goldie Mae Decker, 91, of Rolling Prairie, Ind. passed away peacefully at 11:06 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2020 at Community Hospital, Munster, Ind.
She was born Sept. 29, 1928 in Knott County, Ky. to Burn and Nancy (Brown) Combs.
Goldie was a member of Meer Road United Baptist Church, Michigan City, Ind. She was a nurse for 28 years, retiring from Mt. Sterling Clinic after 18 years of service. Previously she was employed, as well as her husband, William F. Hill, at Mary Chiles Hospital, Mt. Sterling, Ky. She was the greatest baker there ever was and made delightful candies and fruit cakes. Goldie was also very talented at sewing, sewing like you could not believe. She was known to her family as always being right even when she was wrong. Goldie was a loving daughter, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed.
On Jan. 27, 1950 in Mt. Sterling, Ky. she married William F. Hill, who preceded her in death in 1984.
On Sept. 5, 1992 in La Porte, Ind. she married, Arlo Gene Decker, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 2002.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; father, Milo Clemons; two brothers, Milo Clemons, Jr. and Rev. Henry Clemons; and two sisters, Edna Louise Garrison and Lorene Childers.
Surviving are four sisters, Anna Ruth (Donald) Martin of Ocala, Fla., Helen Fay (Lance) Whitefield of Eustis, Fla., Bertha (Hershel) Patrick of Knox, Ind. and Juanita (Ray) Bellis of Rolling Prairie; two brothers, Martin Clemons and A.D. (Agnes) Clemons, both of Michigan City, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; adopted daughter, Jennifer Stacy; three grandchildren, Travis, Chantell and Larry Spelts; and two great-grandchildren.
A private visitation and service will be held. Burial will take place at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Ky. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is handling the arrangements.
