Linda J. Siefker, as strong and passionate a sister, daughter or friend as the world has ever known, died peacefully at her home in San Diego, Cal. on April 17, 2020.
Born in LaPorte on Dec. 19, 1954 to Eugene and Elizabeth Siefker, Linda attended St. Joseph School and graduated from La Porte High School in 1972. Her mother, Elizabeth, her siblings Gail, Kathleen, Mark, Maureen, Alison and Scott, in-laws, nieces and nephews—have lovingly sent Linda off to meet up with her father, grandparents, and her much-loved Corgies to give them an update on recent family events.
Linda had a life-long love affair with music that was sparked by Peter, Paul, and Mary, stoked by the Woodstock festival, and not at all thwarted by her father’s renouncement of Country Joe and the Fish: Linda was happy to give you an F.
She loved good literature, clever word play, and colorful language; she was an avid reader, and regularly tamed the New York Times crossword puzzle in record time.
Gifted with a razor-sharp wit, an unfailing sense of humor, and a devil-may-care disposition, Linda brought laughter, volume, and pie-fights to family holiday gatherings.
Her Midwest roots in a rear-view mirror, California Dreamin’ brought Linda good fortune and local fame. Having inherited entrepreneurial genes and work ethic, she established CUPS COFFEE in her new homeland, and quickly became an award-winning outdoor holiday display celebrity in her San Diego neighborhood.
Linda’s wide network of friends appreciated her compassion, her willingness to listen, and her eagerness to share an opinion and offer counsel. Never too busy to answer a request, Linda was quick to help others in need. She thought deeply about people and perspectives, and was the keeper of much family history.
Linda will be missed and mourned by many: her partner Johnna, her immediate and extended family members, her close and far-flung friends, her business associates, her neighbors, and her beloved dog Izzy will long feel her loss. Linda Jean, you were ours for too short a time.
