Mrs. Pearl R. Oliver, 79, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Golden Living Center Fountainview, LaPorte.
She was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Salyersville, KY, to Brownlo and Minnie (Patton) Stepp.
Pearl worked as a waitress for Timbers at Holiday Inn and at Christos, both in LaPorte, before retiring in 2005. She loved gardening, yard work and traveling to Florida to visit family.
She was married to Kellie Oliver Jr., who preceded her in death May 28, 1973.
Pearl was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mark Oliver; three sisters, Ellen Risner, Lois Stepp and JoAnn Brick; two brothers, Charles Stepp and Sami Stepp; and grandson, Daniel Oliver.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Oliver of New Buffalo, MI, and Jeffrey Oliver of Tampa, FL; three sisters, Betty Jean Pearson and Marylou Huskey, both of LaPorte, and Barbara (John) Blaha of San Pierre, IN; one brother, Danny Stepp of Tampa; three grandchildren, Jeremy Oliver and Ryan Oliver, both of Tampa, and Jessica Mathis of Roswell, GA; and two great-grandchildren, Kendahl Mathis and Jared Mathis, both of Roswell, GA.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
