Mrs. Emmajean Thompson, 80, of LaPorte, died at 11:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her home surrounded by her children.
She was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Knox, IN, to Anthony G. and Nancy M. (Paszil) Varro.
Emmajean was a homemaker and a former seamstress and upholsterer, and loved to paint. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
On June 20, 1969, in Michigan City, she married Clarence A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2011.
Emmajean was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandchild, three sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Roseanna J. Locke of LaPorte; three sons, Ray (Belinda) Locke of Dallas, TX, Terrance R. Locke of LaPorte and Timothy G. Locke of LaPorte; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte. Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the Mass in Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
