Marcia L. Skinner, 74, of LaPorte, IN, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 28, 1944, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Milburn Oberlander and Marian (Thompson) Oberlander.
Marcia was a member of the LaPorte School PTO System and a Girl Scout leader for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and on Wednesdays she loved having dessert at Christo’s with her girlfriends.
On Sept. 26, 1972, in Evansville, IN, she married Larry E. Skinner, who preceded her in death Oct. 31, 2003.
She is survived by her three daughters, Mindy (Ronnie) Daugherty of Westville, IN, Melanie Mercado of LaPorte, IN, and Suzanne (Tedra) Ashley-Wannemehler of Champaign, IL; son, Dennis (Cindy) Skinner of Newburgh, IN; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and lifelong best friend, Della Wittgren of Hanna, IN.
Marcia was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, and her twin sister, Margot Renihan.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. with Dennis Skinner officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
