Harold F. “Rosie” Rosenow, 88, of LaPorte, IN, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018.
Rosie was born Feb. 21, 1930, in LaPorte to the late Harry and Dora (Diesslin) Rosenow.
On June 11, 1960, in LaPorte, Rosie married Judie Zellers, who preceded him in death on June 30, 2018.
Rosie graduated from LaPorte High School in 1947. He then studied at Acme Institute of Technology in South Bend and also at Purdue North Central. He was a draftsman at Clark Equipment and also worked at Allis-Chalmers, Gardex, Hilltop Tavern, Brown Trailer, Budd Company, Whirlpool, Plat Book Company, and Maple City Car Wash. Rosie was a member of LaPorte First United Methodist Church, where he was the longest serving usher and a building superintendent. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 83, and of VFW Post 1130, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, a 50-year member of Excelsior Masonic Lodge 41 F&AM, a blood donor, Troop Committee member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 396, Charter Member of the LaPorte Ski Club, Pine Lake Cemetery Board member, and a former member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity. After Rosie returned from Korea in 1953, he never missed a Fourth of July parade.
Rosie leaves behind a son, Ronald Rosenow of Yorktown, IN; two daughters, Kari (Jim) Gazdick and Shari (John) Presnell, both of LaPorte; and five grandchildren, Abby, Ashley, Nick, Joey, and John John.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the funeral home. Family and friends may visit an hour before the service at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Vale will officiate. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
