Doris “Chris”’ Fields, 79, of Michigan City, IN, and formerly of Elmhurst, IL, died at 10:14 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City.
She was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Milwaukee, WI, to Oscar and Evelyn (Palawski) Cudnohoski.
After completing her high school education, Doris moved to Chicago, where she began and completed her nursing degree. Doris was known for her sense of humor and love of the arts. She was most importantly known for her love and devotion to family, particularly her grandsons, who called her “Gummi.”
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Paula Fields-Mowen of West Chicago, IL, and Kelly Fields of LaPorte; one son, David (Jill) Fields of Westville, IN; four grandsons, Zachary and Mackenzie Mowen and Jack and Ben Fields; one sister, Terri Grosssman; ex-husband, Paul Fields; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Arlene Cudnohoski; brother-in-law, Fred Grossman; and grandson, Taylor Mowen.
A private family service will take place at a later date. Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
