Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte, is handling the arrangements for Julia D. Almaraz, 71, of LaPorte, Indiana, who passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Julia was born November 27, 1946, in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico, to the late Lucio Cabrera and Carmen Garza. She was a QMA for 20 years. Julia was a member of St. Joseph Parish in LaPorte and graduated from Edison High School in Gary, Indiana.
On March 13, 1965, Julia married Joe W. Almaraz, who survives.
Julia is also survived by her children, Alice (Bruce) Holmquest of LaPorte, Patsy (Dan) Jones of Chesterton, IN, Josette (Bill) Lott of LaPorte, and Denise (Adrian) Shultz of Union Mills, Indiana; son-in-law, Richard Nona; grandchildren, Raeanne and Jeromey Holmquest, Daniel and Jasmine Nona, Olivia and Will Lott, and Alex and Jake Schultz; great-grandchildren, Claire and Henry Nona; sister, Sandra (Sam) Rodriguez of Sun City Center, Florida; and brothers, John (Becky) Cabrera of Schererville, Indiana, Raul (Roseanne) Cabrera of Wanatah, Indiana, and Richard (Elda) Cabrera of Riverview, Florida.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaPorte. Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
