Derek Jon Nix Fetters, 33, of LaPorte, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 18, 2017, in his home.
He was born November 9, 1983, in Evansville, IN, to Julie (Dorsey) Nix.
Derek formerly worked as a machinist at Diamond Manufacturing for six years. He enjoyed fishing and camping with family. He loved his nieces and nephew very much.
Surviving are his mother, Julie (Allen) Fetters of LaPorte; one sister, Elizabeth Berg of Hamlet, IN; paternal grandmother, Deanie Nix; maternal aunt, Kathy Villines of LaPorte; maternal uncle, Ronnie Fetters of Michigan City; three paternal aunts, Connie, Shirley and Nicki; maternal uncle, Lamont Dorsey; two nieces, Payton and Michaela; and one nephew, Ian.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Lamont and Mae Dorsey; paternal grandfather, Richard Fetters; and maternal uncle, Frank Villines.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, June 23, at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, LaPorte.
