Stanley Jacobs Sr., 81, of Michigan City, IN, died peacefully at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City.
He was born June 1, 1935, in Otis, IN, to Dr. John and Eva (Tylinski) Jacobs.
Stanley honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years. Stanley was a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple, Michigan City. He was also a member of VFW, Michigan City; American Legion Post 37, Michigan City, and the Michiana Gem and Mineral Society. Stanley enjoyed jewelry design, making wine, gardening, fishing, and deer hunting, and loved to spend his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Nov. 20, 1995, in Michigan City, he married Marcia E. (Dekker) Jacobs, who survives.
Also surviving are his three children, John Jacobs of Spokane, WA, Craig (Kathryn) Jacobs of Trail Creek, IN, and Stanley (Tammy) Jacobs Jr. of Colorado; two stepdaughters, Laurie (Scott) Bolka of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Wendy (Chris) Clark of Katy, TX; sister, Shirley (Robert) Sloan of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Hess, Heather Jacobs, Lauryn (Geoff) Ulam, Brianna and Braxton Bolka, and Jakob Clark ; seven great-grandchildren, Cayden, Baize, Eli, Terry, Farryn, Adelie, and Nora; two nieces; one nephew; and several friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; niece, Tracy Baughman; and two infant step-grandchildren, Nelson and Jessica Bolka.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at noon Saturday, March 18, at Emmanuel Baptist Temple, Michigan City, with Pastor Dallas Wingo officiating. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
