William Stewart Beith, 70, of LaPorte, formerly of Michigan and northwest Indiana, died peacefully at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, in his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Mt. Clemens, MI, to John W. and Alice (McCormick) Beith.
William and his wife were active members of Calvary Baptist Church, LaPorte. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family. Some of his hobbies were fishing, fast cars, and being on the water. William spent many years as a pastor and as a cabinet maker. He was an awesome grandpa and great-grandpa, and was a loving husband and father.
On Feb. 20, 1965, in Pontiac, MI, he married Rhonda Kay (Barger) Beith, who survives. They celebrated 52 years of marriage this past Monday.
Also surviving are his mother, Alice Beith of Lake Orion, MI; three children, Cindy (Darrell) Crots of Chesterton, IN, Lori (Lance) Olson of Chicago and Andy (Salla Utonga) Beith of South Bend, IN; one brother, Jack (Terri) Beith of Linden, MI; seven grandchildren, Joel (Abby) Crots, Jensen (Jake) Sanders, Jacob Crots, Louis Olson, Shane Rivera, Caden Beith, and Clarissa Beith; three great-grandchildren, William, Matthias and Cynthia Crots; and two great-grandchildren on the way, Baby Sanders and Baby Crots.
Preceding him in death were his father and two sisters, Joy Carter and Jacqueline Gay Beith.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Darrell Crots officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, 1808 I St., LaPorte, IN 46350, in memory of William Stewart Beith.
