Bruce H. Birchfield, 62, of LaPorte, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Oct. 22, 1952, in LaPorte to Harold and Frances (James) Birchfield.
Bruce had been baptized as a child at Pinhook Baptist Church. He worked for Brentwood as the bus driver and formerly worked as a field superintendent with Ideal Interiors of South Bend, IN. Bruce loved fishing, working outdoors and baseball. He was a cherished husband, an amazing father and had a deep love for his family and friends.
On Oct. 2, 2010, in LaPorte, he married Kimberly Tanner, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Rachael Birchfield and Emily Birchfield, both of Westville, IN, and Katrina Owens of Mishawaka, IN; his mother, Frances Birchfield; brother, Jerry (Susan) Birchfield of LaPorte; and sister, Tammy (Dale) Sass of LaPorte.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Birchfield; father, Harold Birchfield; and mother-in-law, Susan Schultz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. until the service. A cremation committal will take place following the service.
