Larry Stephen Kosnik, 68, of LaPorte, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1947, in Cleveland, OH, to Frank and Betty (Paluta) Kosnik.
Larry served our country honorably as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He also served as president of The Guardian Riders of LaPorte County, was a mentor for many troubled veterans in Veterans Court of LaPorte County, and was a volunteer for Honor Flight Chicago. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Larry loved motorcycles, traveling and spending time with his family.
On June 20, 1970, he married Julianne Smith, who survives in LaPorte.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Steve (Jodie) Kosnik of Jacksonville, NC, Lisa (Michael) Lyle of Chicago, Wendy (Matthew) Bootcheck of LaPorte, and Stas’ (Allison) Kosnik of Lexington, SC; and 11 grandchildren, Katlynd, Emma, Clara, Elizabeth, David, Annabelle, Bella, Piper, Addison, Brooklyn, and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Father Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, on Sunday, April 26, from 2 to 6 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
