Clarence “Sonny” Earl Green Jr., 76, of LaPorte, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 27, 1938, in LaPorte to Clarence Earl Sr. and Bessie (Hitesman) Green.
Sonny retired from Aero Metals in LaPorte. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. Sonny was a member of Elks Lodge 492 and Maple City Motorcycle Club. He attended LaPorte Missionary Church and was a past coach and director of the Hoosier Boys Club in Kingsford Heights, IN.
On Oct. 22, 1966, he married Sharon Burkhart, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Thomas Burger (Monica Prather) of LaPorte, Duane (Michelle) Burger of North Carolina, Gina Collings (Chuck Nightingale) of Hamlet, IN, and Jennifer (Ed) Hynek of LaPorte; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Tom Burkhart of LaPorte and Don Tarnow of South Bend, IN; sister-in-law, Sandy Burkhart of LaPorte; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Green; brother, Charles Disbrow; and sisters, Marie Tarnow, Cleo Maitland and Carol Arthur.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.
