Rev. Edward Meyer, 1922-2015

MeyerThe Reverend Dr. Edward A. Meyer, 92, of Fort Wayne, IN, died Thursday, April 2, 2015.

He was born Dec. 23, 1922, to Herbert Sr. and Esther (Spiegel) Meyer.

Rev. Meyer served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. He was later ordained as a Lutheran minister and served at a number of churches. During his ministry he served on various district committees and had been a member of the Indiana District Stewardship Board and district vice president.  He was a delegate to the Denver convention of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Surviving family include his wife of 62 years, Lois Meyer; daughter, Janet (Larry) Graham; sons, Casey (Penny) Meyer, Andrew (Maureen) Meyer and Peter Meyer; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and sister, Dorothy Buuck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Herbert Jr., Stanley and twin brother Donald; and a granddaughter, Sarah Graham.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr St., Fort Wayne, on Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m. EDT. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church beginning at noon EDT. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Greenlawn Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to LCMS Global Mission, 1333 S. Kirkwood Rd., St. Louis, MO 63122-7295.
