Clik here to view.Judith Abuabara Fatule, M.D., died Feb. 23, 2015.
She was born Jan. 7, 1932.
Judith, mother, wife, advocate of the poor and needed, always with the right sense to not judge but love unconditionally. She was an example for all who knew her and her presence gave strength in times of anxiety. Born in Mompox, Colombia, she was a pioneer of women in medicine. When she graduated with honors from The National University of Colombia Medical School, only four other women had obtained the title.
Judith was married for over 50 years to Ovidio Ovalle and they had two daughters. They raised them in a small town, where she tended to people from far and wide because she was known and appreciated for her great generosity, compassion and love for humanity. Even today many patients speak of her exemplary life as daughter, wife, mother and doctor.
Mom, your existence was strong proof of God’s love for us.
Her family and friends will miss her dearly and will keep her in their memories for generations to come.
Surviving are her husband, Ovidio Ovalle of LaPorte; her daughters, Judith Ovalle Abuabara of Columbia, MO, and Monica Ovalle Abuabara of LaPorte; sons-in-law, Juan Jaramillo of Columbia, MO, and Richard Gnaedinger of LaPorte; and her four grandchildren, Anika, Nicholas, Oliver and Jan Louis.
Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, IL.
