Robert Mitchell Smith, 89, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at his home.
He was born June 30, 1925, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Frank Arley and Emma W. (Benke) Smith.
Robert worked as a switchman for Illinois Central Railroad. He enjoyed watching sports.
On May 15, 1954, he married Corinne Virginia Kenney, who survives.
Also surviving are his sons, Brad Smith of Beecher, IL, and Mark (Cristen) Smith of Exton, PA; grandchildren, Brendan, Hannah, Robert and Angela; niece, Debbie (Sam) Cardinale of LaPorte; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service. A cremation committal has taken place.
