Ralph Schoff, 1919-2015

Mr. Ralph W. Schoff, 95, of Union Mills, IN, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at his home.

He was born April 5, 1919, in Dayton, MI, to Rolla and Marie (Colburn) Schoff.

Ralph had worked at Allis-Chalmers and Kingsbury Elevator, drove a truck for LaPorte County, and was also a farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Ralph was a member of Tracy United Methodist Church for 60-plus years and a member of Kingsford Heights Legion for 55 years. He enjoyed playing cards and bowling.

On Oct. 22, 1941, in Walkerton, IN, he married Annette (Ellis) Schoff, who preceded him in death in 2011.

Ralph was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mike Schoff; two granddaughters, Pam and Diana Draves; and daughter-in-law, Teena Schoff.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (David) Draves of Kingsford Heights, IN; two sons, Steven Schoff and Charles Schoff, both of Union Mills; daughter-in-law, Betty Schoff of LaPorte; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Rita Ellis of Hamlet, IN.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Jan. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ann Dill officiating. Interment will follow at Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, where a military service will be conducted by the Kingsford Heights American Legion.
