Randolph “Randy” Spurr, 1951-2015

Randolph “Randy” Alex Spurr, 63, of LaPorte, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born Oct. 28, 1951, in LaPorte to Alexander and Elsie (Abraham) Spurr.

Randy graduated from LaPorte High School in 1970 and worked for Allis-Chalmers for over 10 years. He also worked faithfully for Sullair in Michigan City, IN, for over 28 years. Randy enjoyed using his talents working on cars and anything mechanical. He would always stop whatever he was doing to make time for others. Regardless of the need or what was broken, Randy was always there to fix it for his family and friends. He loved collecting remote-control cars and Thomas the Train items. Randy also loved to travel all across the Midwest with Sharon to Thomas The Train shows, where children of all ages enjoy themselves. Above all Randy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson. He will always be loved, missed and remembered well.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Elsie Spurr of LaPorte; fiancé, Sharon Kay Bauer of LaPorte; daughters, Amber Spurr of LaPorte and Carrie Spurr of Australia; brother, Michael (Sandra) Spurr of LaPorte; sister, Cynthia (Frank) Shuman of Orange, TX; grandson, Milo Randolph Spurr of LaPorte; nieces, Dr. Melissa (Dan) Spurr Lah of Indianapolis and Jaclyn Shuman of New York, NY; nephews, Nathan Spurr of Indianapolis, Dr. Frank (Natalie) Shuman of Houston, TX, and Jason (Shelley) Shuman of Austin, TX; and many other loving family members and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his wife Bonita on May 20, 1999, and father Alexander on Dec. 20, 2007.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Gene Flickinger officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
