Michael R. Kranz, 52, of LaPorte, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015.
He was born July 17, 1962, at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to Barbara (Kopischke) Kosco and Martin Kranz.
Michael was employed for the past 16 years with Walmart as an assistant manager and had previously been employed with Al’s supermarket for 11 years. Michael was an avid Blackhawks fan and enjoyed antiquing.
On June 2, 1990, Michael married Dorothy Schable, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Katelyn and Kayla Kranz, both of LaPorte; his mother, Barbara Kosco and his stepfather, Frank Kosco of Fish Lake, IN; sisters, Karen Kranz of Blue Springs, MO, and Diane (Bert) Lindstrum of Mokena, IL; brothers, Scott (Krissy) Kosco of Munster, IN, and Tim (Cindy) Kranz of Blue Springs; sister-in-law, Lorrie Kranz of Illinois; four half-brothers, Mark, Matt, Mitch and Mike; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Martin, and brother, Jim Kranz.
Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
