Thomas W. Stone, 88, of Knox, IN, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.
He was born March 24, 1926, in Nimmons, AR, to Thomas Sr. and Edie Bell (Frederick) Stone.
Thomas retired from New York Blower after 22 years of service. He loved fishing and gardening. He never met a stranger and he loved church and his family.
On Jan. 17, 1948, in Piggott, AR, he married Gladys Lawson, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Donald R. Stone of Knox, Carolyn (Robert Lanning) Glancy of LaPorte and Cathy Baxley of LaPorte; seven grandchildren, Bobby (Pam) Plotner, Jeff (Kelly Ann) Glancy, Kathy Plotner, Dewey (Debbie) Dale, Dawn (Rudy) Ortega, Tina (Tony) Cunningham, and Robert Baxley; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and his sister, Ailene (Robert) Bullock of Kennett, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and his grandson, Thomas A. Plotner.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 17, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.
